Every cricketer faces the possibility of a bad start and what's important is how you bounce back from them. Such was the case in the contest between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders where pacer Shamar Joseph’s debut turned into a nightmare after leaking 22 runs in his first over.

‌The Lucknow Super Giants posted a respectable total of 161/7 in their allotted 20 overs, boosted by Nicholas Pooran's contribution of 45 runs from 32 deliveries. Mitchell Starc, who had been struggling with form, regained his rhythm by taking three wickets while conceding 28 runs. In the second innings, Kolkata's opening pair Phil Salt and Sunil Narine took the field with KL Rahul entrusting the first over to Shamar Joseph. However, the 24-year-old pacer faced a rough start as his first over was costly.

Joseph began decently by giving away just eight runs. But as he completed the over, the no-ball signal sounded indicating that he had overstepped on the last delivery. Coming back to bowl the extra ball, he unfortunately delivered a wide. This was followed by two more wides, one of which raced to the boundary. In the midst of this, he bowled another no-ball resulting in 14 runs being conceded already with Salt was ready to exploit the free hit. Eventually, Joseph delivered a legal ball which Salt dispatched for a six marking a disastrous debut for the West Indian. However, amidst the disappointment, KL Rahul was seen comforting Joseph and offering words of encouragement as he placed a reassuring hand on his back.

The Twitterverse quickly reacted to Shamar Joseph's challenging IPL debut sparking discussions across social media platforms.
