Shakib Al Hasan unlikely to feature in India tour

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan is unlikely to be named in the squad that tours India in November, as coach Russell Domingo is understood to be looking for other options. Meanwhile, the board is awaiting Shakib’s reply to a show-cause notice issued to him for violating a clause in his central contract.

Bangladesh are all but ready to tour India to play three T20Is and two Test matches, starting from November 2. However, their key man, Shakib, is unlikely to be in the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) plans. As of now, the all-rounder has attended only one net session during the four-day preparation camp ahead of the side's first T20I against India in New Delhi. Shakib, who led the players’ strike last week, was also excluded from the two warm-up T20 matches as part of the preparation camp.

''We will announce the T20 team tomorrow [October 29] at noon. We need some more time to announce our Test team. We will announce it two to three days later," Akram Khan, BCB's cricket operations chairman, told Cricbuzz.

Although he is the captain of the side in the white-ball formats, Shakib, reportedly, wasn't part of certain team meetings which included Domingo, board president Nazmul Hasan and other senior officials.

Meanwhile, Shakib had come under fire for signing on as the brand ambassador of ‘Grameenphone’, a direct competitor of team’s sponsor ‘Robi’. Although CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury had said that Shakib was unlikely to face any legal action from the board, he is yet to reply to the show-cause notice issued to him.
