VIDEO | 'Bewildered' Rohit Sharma refuses to walk off despite third umpire signalling him out

In what is a huge concern for India, both their openers are out of form now and while India expected them to fire, they failed to deliver yet again. Today, Rohit Sharma’s travesty carried on for another match, but he refused to walk off despite the on-field umpire overturning the decision to OUT.

It is one of those things that India feared the most that the law of averages would catch up with them. After the years of dominance by the openers, India planned their World Cup combination on the back of guaranteed success by their openers. However, just as the World Cup comes round the corner, they have been struggling to find a way to even touch balls. Rohit seemed to have found the touch by hitting a six down the ground, but soon was caught plumb in front.

On the third delivery of the fifth over, Pat Cummins bowled a nip-backer to Rohit which stayed a trifle low when the Indian vice-captain looked to play from the crease. In the ideal scenario, he should have played it out of the line like the way he hit his first four, but his failure to move it right away resulted in Australia appealing it loudly.

Umpire Chettithody Shamshuddin was not interested in it, thinking the ball had hit the bat first before hitting the pad, but Australia were confident that it was out and they decided to review it. Rohit seemed completely chilled out as he thought the same as the umpire and didn’t even bother looking at the TV screen for far too long.

When the replays showed on the screen, it was revealed that HawkEye had Three Reds on it and there were three different sounds on the Real Time Snicko. The first, however, came from the pad, the second one from the bat and the third one was from the back pad. Rohit, who thought that he had edged the ball, didn’t even see the replay and the moment Shamshuddin raised his finger to signal the end of the innings, Rohit was left surprised and gave a bewildered look. He even waited and had a sip of water before before reluctantly walking off.

Even after reaching the dressing room, he couldn't believe the dismissal and was seen animated when seeing the replay once again.
