Chelsea’s pursuit of Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez has hit a deadlock, with the Premier League side unwilling to raise their €50 million bid. Barcelona, however, demand €90 million for the 22-year-old midfielder, highly valued by Hansi Flick. WithBarcelonafirm on their stance and Gavi injured, Lopez looks set to remain at Camp Nou this season.

For the final hours of the summer transfer window, Chelsea’s pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez appears to have stalled. The Premier League side have made it clear they will not go beyond their €50 million bid, despite Barcelona valuing the 20-year-old much higher. Reports earlier suggested that Barcelona could consider offers in the €70 million range, but the club has remained firm on their €90 million price tag.

Fermin, who broke into the first team last season and is highly rated by coach Hansi Flick, has not yet decided on his future but has always leaned toward staying at Camp Nou and fighting for a regular place. The midfielder may also benefit from increased game time this season with Gavi sidelined due to injury, though competition from Dani Olmo remains a challenge.

With negotiations at a standstill, the likelihood of Fermin staying in Catalonia has grown stronger. Chelsea, under pressure to strengthen their midfield, seem unwilling to meet Barcelona’s valuation, and unless they adjust their stance before the deadline, the move is unlikely to materialize. As things stand, Fermin Lopez is set to continue his development in Barcelona’s colors for the 2025-26 campaign.
