Manchester United have reportedly backed away from Brentford’s £65m valuation for Bryan Mbeumo after two rejected bids. With the deal stalling, United have turned their focus to former Brentford striker Ivan Toney. They have made a €30m plus €5m in add-ons offer, believing his Premier League experience makes him an ideal fit up front.
Coming to the latest buzz around Manchester United’s summer transfer window, the Red Devils have reportedly made a surprise £30 million offer for a new target after deeming Brentford’s valuation of Bryan Mbeumo too high. United had earlier tabled bids of up to £55 million plus add-ons for Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and assisted eight in the Premier League last season. However, Brentford are holding firm at £65 million, prompting United to explore alternatives.
Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that United have now turned their focus to Ivan Toney, who joined Al Ahli last summer for £40 million. With his Transfermarkt value down to £21 million, United are believed to have offered €30 million (around £26 million) plus €5 million in add-ons. The club views Toney’s Premier League experience and physicality as ideal for their attacking setup.
Initial contacts have already been made between the two clubs and the striker’s camp, with optimism growing around a possible deal. Toney himself is said to be keen on a return to England’s top flight and is excited by the prospect of playing for a club like United. This potential signing would also allow United to reinforce their attack without overspending.
