Fulham are reportedly interested, pending wage agreement.
After the conclusion of a trophy-winning 2024–25 campaign, Chelsea has begun reshaping their squad under new manager Enzo Maresca, who guided the club to FIFA Club World Cup glory in the USA. Backed by Champions League qualification, Chelsea have already spent £227 million this summer, bringing in Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens, while offloading Noni Madueke to Arsenal for £48.5 million.
However, Maresca now aims to trim the wage bill, and one of his key priorities is moving on Raheem Sterling. Sterling, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, failed to score in 17 Premier League appearances and remains out of Maresca’s long-term plans. With two years left on his contract and earning an estimated £17 million annually, Chelsea are open to a cut-price permanent deal, potentially around £8 million.
While Bundesliga interest hasn’t materialised into formal bids, local rivals Fulham have emerged as a possible destination if wage terms can be agreed. Given the clubs’ past dealings, a move across West London is realistic, provided Chelsea settle Sterling’s hefty wages. The club is eager to avoid another loan arrangement and prefers a permanent sale before the 2025-26 season kicks off.
