As the summer transfer window continues to heat up, Ajax are actively negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain to secure the signing of Spanish midfielder Carlos Soler. The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at West Ham United, is no longer in Luis Enrique’s plans at PSG and is available for a move. Reports suggest that discussions are focused on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause, allowing Ajax to bring him in initially before committing to a full transfer.
Ajax’s technical director, Alex Kroes, has expressed strong interest in the midfielder, though financial constraints have made the negotiations challenging. With striker Brian Brobbey likely to join Stade Rennes, Ajax now have the flexibility to pursue Soler seriously. The midfielder’s allure includes the opportunity to play Champions League football at the Johan Cruijff Arena next season, which could be decisive in finalizing the deal.
Soler’s contract with PSG runs until 2027, but the French club are prepared to let him leave next summer after a potential loan. Ajax are expected to cover his full €4.8 million gross salary for the season, while the exact mandatory transfer fee remains under discussion. The Spaniard, who has 14 caps for his national team, played 31 games for West Ham last season, though mostly as a substitute, after joining PSG from Valencia in 2022 for €18 million.
