When the news broke that Thomas Muller had poked fun at Lionel Messi and Neymar in his latest project, football fans could hardly ignore it. Before his move to MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps, the Bayern Munich legend released a 16-page children’s book titled Thomas Muller: My Hidden Objects Book, published in early August by Karibu Verlag and illustrated by Christoph Schöne. Priced at €12.99, the book recreates eight memorable moments from Muller’s career in a playful “hidden objects” style for fans to explore.

One illustration depicts Germany’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Argentina in the 2010 World Cup quarter-final, featuring a downcast Messi surrounded by jubilant German players. The scene also shows the Golden Boot, a nod to Muller’s five-goal tally in the tournament, tying him with Forlan, Sneijder, and Villa. Another highlight revisits the 2020 UEFA Champions League final against PSG.

It features Kingsley Coman scoring the winning goal, Bayern Munich lifting the trophy, and Neymar in tears at the center circle while medics attend to the injury-prone forward. The artwork also notes the pandemic-era backdrop, with tarps covering the Lisbon stands. Muller explained on Instagram that the idea came as he and his management reflected on his career’s most emotional games, aiming to share them in a universally accessible format.
