Roma are negotiating with Aston Villa for winger Leon Bailey in a potential loan deal with obligation to buy. The 28-year-old Jamaican, contracted until 2027, played 24 league games last season, starting 14. Roma, already with six summer signings, see Bailey as their seventh, after his 22 goals and 24 assists in 144 Villa appearances.

After the latest developments in the summer transfer window, Roma have entered advanced talks with Aston Villa to sign Jamaican winger Leon Bailey. The proposed deal is expected to be a loan with an obligation to buy, though no formal bid has yet been made. Bailey, 28, extended his contract in February 2024 until 2027 but is among several Villa players, including Alex Moreno and Leander Dendoncker, available for transfer.

Turkish clubs such as Besiktas and sides from the Saudi Pro League have also shown interest, but Roma are now leading the race. If the move goes through, Bailey would become Roma’s seventh summer signing and their second from the Premier League, following Evan Ferguson’s loan from Brighton. Last season, Bailey featured in 24 Premier League matches for Villa, starting 14, but saw his form dip due to injuries and illness.

Since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2021 for around £30 million, he has made 144 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists. Bailey played a key role in Villa’s fourth-place Premier League finish in 2023-24, securing Champions League qualification, and reaching the UEFA Conference League semi-finals. His earlier career included spells in Austria, Slovakia, Belgium with Genk, and Germany with Leverkusen.
