The pair exchanged texts, with Kane wishing Son success in America.

When the 2025-26 season began, it marked the first time in over a decade that Tottenham Hotspur lined up without either Harry Kane or Heung-min Son. The legendary duo had combined for a Premier League record 47 mutual goal contributions, surpassing iconic partnerships like Didier Drogba-Frank Lampard and Thierry Henry-Robert Pires.

Kane departed for Bayern Munich in 2023, while Son stayed on to captain Spurs for two more seasons, leading them to Europa League glory in 2024. Earlier this month, Son completed a move to MLS side LAFC. Spurs then faced Bayern in a pre-season friendly, where Kane scored in a 4-0 win over his former club. Speaking after the game, the England captain praised Son as a “Tottenham legend” and said there was “no better way to finish than by winning that trophy last season.”

Kane revealed he had texted Son earlier in the day, with both agreeing to catch up soon. Kane also posted a heartfelt tribute on X, recalling their “magical moments” on and off the pitch and expressing joy at seeing Son lift silverware. With both gone, manager Thomas Frank’s Spurs will rely on younger players to fill the void left by two of the club’s greatest ever forwards.
