Zimbabwe Cricket has received a USD 50,000 sponsorship from financial institution CABS to support domestic circuit in the country. The funds are expected to be give the nation's five provincial teams financial transparency and governance as well as play an important role in developing the domestic tournaments.
“We are grateful to CABS for coming on board as a valued partner in our domestic cricket journey. This kind of corporate support plays an important role in strengthening the game's foundation and enabling long-term growth,” Givemore Makoni, Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, was quoted saying by ESPNcricinfo.
“For our provincial teams, it means greater stability and the ability to invest more consistently in key areas such as player welfare, coaching, and talent development - factors that are essential to building a stronger pipeline for the future of Zimbabwean cricket,” Makoni added.
The managing director of CABS, Mehluli Mpofu, explained the broader reason behind the investment into the future of Zimbabwe cricket.
“This sponsorship is more than support for cricket - it is a commitment to the dreams of Zimbabwe's young people. Across the country, there are talented, passionate youths who see sport as a pathway to opportunity, purpose and pride. At CABS, we recognise that potential. By investing in domestic cricket, we are answering their call, building platforms for growth and helping shape a future where every young Zimbabwean has a chance to shine,” Mpofu stated.
2025 has been an iconic year for Zimbabwe cricket in terms of matches, even though they have not managed to get the desired results in the majority of the games. The African nation has played a total of seven Test matches so far and hosted a T20I tri-series involving top sides New Zealand and South Africa. The Chevrons will next be featuring in a two-match Test series against the Kiwis, starting July 30.
