Kundai Matigamu fined 15% match fee

Players need to maintain discipline and live up to the spirit of the game. The players who do not follow proper rules and regulations in a game of cricket might face major consequences in the future. Zimbabwe pacer Kundai Matigamu learnt his lesson the hard way in the Test against South Africa.

‌The second Test at the Queen Sports Club in Bulawayo was a nightmare for the Zimbabwe team as the Proteas thrashed by an innings and 236 runs. While it was not a great day for any of the players, things got worse for Zimbabwe pacer Kundai Matigamu, who earned a demerit point for his on-field antics during the first innings of the game while bowling to South African batter Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
The incident took place on the first day of the match, where Pretorius punched the ball straight back to the bowler. The 27-year-old pacer fielded the ball and threw it straight back to Pretorius and struck his wrist while he was taking evasive action. Matigamu was fined 15% of his match fee and said to be breaching the ICC code of conduct, which states that a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner by a player will be penalised.
The fans give their opinion on the action taken by the ICC on this incident.
