EDR vs PD6, Review । Arpit Rana's swashbuckling knock guides East Delhi Riders to win by five wickets against PD6

East Delhi Riders brilliantly executed a successful run chase to beat Purani Delhi 6 by a margin of five wickets in the 21st match of the ongoing DPL 2025. Arpit Rana’s swashbuckling 87-run knock helped the Riders chase the target comfortably and move to the top of the tournament’s points table.
The Riders’ skipper, Anuj Rawat, won the toss and asked Purani Delhi 6 to bat first. Star pacer Navdeep Saini drew the first blood by dismissing Vivek Yadav (5) in the third over. However, the duo of Samarth Seth and Pranav Pant recovered PD6 from the early loss, stitching a 41-run partnership for the second wicket. Seth accelerated the scoring with an aggressive approach, hitting three sixes and two fours to score 35 runs off 23 balls. However, Seth’s fall at the team score of 59 runs in 6.4 overs was followed by another one in quick succession in the very next over. Akhil Chaudhary gave a big blow to PD6, getting Lalit Yadav (5) caught by Ashish Meena on the fourth ball of the eighth over. Amidst a fall of wickets at regular intervals, it was Pranav Pant who held one end strongly with determination, scoring 64 (41). His knock was followed by skipper Vansh Bedi’s blistering 28-run knock off just 11 balls. Later in the innings, Dev Lakra (13) and Yug Gupta (13)’s contributions helped Purani Delhi 6 to score 182/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Navdeep Saini bowled the most economical spell for his side in this game, scalping two wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs. Besides him, Mayank Rawat and Akhil Chaudhary also claimed two wickets each, alongside a wicket each picked by Rohit Yadav and Arpit Rana.
East Delhi Riders’ opening pair of Arpit Rana and Sujal Singh approached the run chase in a blistering style, smashing 55 runs for no loss in the powerplay. Furthermore, the duo ran through the PD6’s bowling attack and stitched an outstanding opening partnership of 149 runs in 16.2 overs. In this partnership, it was Rana who played with an explosive intent throughout his entire knock of 87 runs off just 52 balls, smashing nine fours and four sixes. He was accompanied by Sujal Singh’s steady knock of 59 runs off 46 balls, with six fours. However, this partnership’s end was followed by a horrific and unbelievable collapse of the Riders’ top order. At one point, Riders scored 149/0 in 16.1 overs, but then an unexpected collapse occurred as they lost three wickets in the next three balls, including a run-out, and the score came to 150/3 in 16.4 overs. In the same wave of collapse, EDR lost two more wickets in quick succession in the very next 18th over, losing Anuj Rawat and Rohan Seth off Lalit Yadav on the fourth and sixth balls of the over. In a sigh of relief for the East Delhi Riders, this collapse of the 16th and 17th overs was neutralized by Mayank Rawat’s unbeaten 22-run knock off just 10 balls, with three fours and a six. Rawat’s knock helped the Riders chase down the target in 19.5 overs, scoring 186/5 and moving to the top spot in the tournament’s points table, with their fifth win in the tournament’s current edition.
Arpit Rana won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning 87-run knock off just 52 balls, with nine fours and four sixes. Apart from this, he also scalped the big wicket of PD6’s Samarth Seth in the first innings.
