Giant hits have been an inherent part of T20 cricket, and Tim David epitomised that during the second T20I between Australia and South Africa in Darwin. The middle-order batter punished a long hop from leg-spinner Nqabayomzi Peter, much to his shock, pulling him away out of the ground.

‌South Africa rode on Dewald Brevis’ pyrotechnics to post a formidable 218/7 after being put into bat first by Australia in the second T20I at the Marrara Stadium in Darwin. Brevis smashed 12 fours and eight sixes to remain unbeaten on 125 off 56 balls after completing a 41-ball century.

Chasing 219, Australia ended the powerplay at the score of 58, though they lost two early wickets. Tim David, who was promoted to number four, started with three fours off Kwena Maphaka in his first three balls.

With the fields spread, the Proteas turned to leg-spinner Nqabayomzi Peter to pin down David, who was looking dangerous to run away with the game. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter sent the leggie’s second ball into the stands before captain Mitchell Marsh hit a four a ball later.

But David was not done yet, as he tore into a long hop from Peter that came into him. With all his might, the batter swung his bat, making an impactful contact with the white rock. The ball flew a long way before exiting the ground over the roof at deep mid-wicket.

The replay caught David in full flow as he dismantled the bowler’s morale with the stunning hit. Twitter was in awe as Peter was left stone-faced and helpless with David’s brute force.
