Match Report
SDS skipper Ayush Badoni opted to field first, and Himanshu Chauhan gave his skipper a reason to smile by dismissing Arpit Rana (5) cheaply at EDR’s score of just 13 runs in 2.4 overs. However, Sujal Singh and Hardik Sharma made a joint effort to recover the early loss with a 25-run partnership for the second wicket before Singh’s 21-run knock off 15 balls, with three fours and a six, was ended by Digvesh Rathi. But Hardik carried the charge forward with skipper Anuj Rawat to make a 49-run stand for the third wicket. In this partnership, Hardik contributed with 34 runs off 24 balls, smashing four fours and two sixes. He was accompanied by Anuj, who ended up playing a 49-run knock. After losing Hardik in the 11th over, Rawat also stitched a much-needed 34-run partnership with Mayank Rawat (13) for the fifth wicket. These knocks and late contributions of Rounak Waghela (18) and Akhil Chaudhary (10) helped SDS score 171/8.
While chasing the target, the Superstarz had a decent opening start of 39 runs in 4.1 overs, executed by their opening pair of Kunwar Bidhuri and Ayush Badoni. Bidhuri initiated an early attack on the Riders’ bowling attack. Navdeep Saini provided the first breakthrough to the Riders in the fifth over. Bidhuri’s 27-run knock also came to an end in the sixth over when he was caught by Akhil Chaudhary off Ashish Meena’s bowling. Badoni took charge from Bidhuri and scored a crucial 39 (29), with five fours. SDS lost Badoni in the 13th over when they had scored 108. Dahiya tried to take his team home with 23 runs off just 15 balls, hitting three fours and a six, followed by some gritty efforts from Sumit Mathur (10), Vision Panchal (17), and Sumit Beniwal (13). But these contributions went in vain as the Superstarz fell just four runs short of the target, losing the game by a narrow margin of three runs, getting restricted to 168/9 in the entire 20 overs. Rohit Yadav ended up with the match-winning bowling figures of 3/22 in his four overs, with an economy rate of 5.50. He was accompanied by Navdeep Saini (2/28) and Akhil Chaudhary (1/24).
