Brilliant Saina defeated the World No. 1 Carolina Marin in a thrilling 3-setter, 23-21, 21-9, 21-12 to lift herself right back into contention for the semis at the Super Series Finals. The victory would have been even more sweeter considering her injury struggles, she was unable to even move around the court in her previous match – amazing determination to win! #MakingIndiaProud
Srikanth, however, lost in straight sets to Viktor Axelsen. Lack of consistency in his defensive game hurt Srikanth, and he is now out of contention for semis!

Star of the day: Youngster Sakshi Malik of Mumbai Garuda, she defeated Commonwealth Gold Medalist & Punjab Royals icon player Geeta Phogat in the 58 kg category. In the end, Mumbai beat Punjab 5-2 in the opening match of PWL.
Opening day of PWL, however, was quite a chaos - excessive crowd in the playing arena, unnecessary cheerleaders, poor TV coverage & commentary etc. What has the potential to match, if not surpass PKL, may end up sinking without a trace if this continues!
