Tamil Thalaivas, aiming for their maiden PKL title in Season 12 starting August 29, appointed Sanjeev Baliyan as head coach. Star raiders Arjun Deshwal (1,174 raid points) and Pawan Sehrawat (1,318 raid points) bolster their attack, while captain Sagar Rathee and Nitesh Kumar lead defence. Injuries remain their biggest concern despite a strong auction spend of INR 4.973 crore.

As the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 approaches, Tamil Thalaivas are aiming for a turnaround with a revamped squad and a new coaching setup. After two straight league-stage exits, the franchise has appointed two-time PKL title-winning coach Sanjeev Baliyan, who previously guided Patna Pirates in Season 3 and Jaipur Pink Panthers in Season 9, along with assistant coach Suresh Kumar.

The Thalaivas have strengthened their raiding unit, making Arjun Deshwal their biggest signing for INR 1.405 crore. Deshwal, with 1,174 raid points in 114 games, joins Pawan Sehrawat, who re-signed for INR 59.50 lakh. Sehrawat, nicknamed the Hi-Flyer, boasts 1,318 raid points and 70 tackle points in 139 matches. Retained players Moein Shafaghi and Narender Kandola, who scored 103 and 82 raid points respectively last season, further boost the attack.

On the defensive side, captain Sagar Rathee and Nitesh Kumar will anchor the corners, with Nitesh finishing Season 11 with 77 tackle points, the third-most in the league. However, the cover positions remain inexperienced, posing a concern. Injuries to key players like Sehrawat and Sagar also remain potential threats. With a mix of proven raiders and fresh leadership, the Thalaivas are eyeing their maiden PKL title.
