For the fans of Pro Kabaddi League, U Mumba has confirmed that Sunil Kumar will continue as captain for PKL Season 12, starting August 29, 2025. The experienced defender, regarded as the most successful captain in league history with 77 wins in six editions, first led Gujarat Giants from Season 6 to 8, before guiding Jaipur Pink Panthers to their second title in Season 9 and a semi-final in Season 10.

Taking charge of U Mumba in Season 11, Sunil steered the team to 12 wins, nine losses, and two ties, finishing fifth with 71 points and a score difference of 16. Their campaign ended in Eliminator 2 against Patna Pirates, losing 31-23. Individually, Sunil notched 54 tackle points from 110 attempts in 23 matches, including eight Super Tackles and three High 5s.

PKL 12 will be played across Vizag, Jaipur, Chennai, and Delhi, with U Mumba opening against Gujarat Giants on August 30 at Vizag’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. The Mumbai-based side, champions in 2015, aim to better last season’s performance under Sunil’s leadership. Haryana Steelers, who defeated Patna Pirates to claim their maiden title last year, enter as defending champions in a season that promises high-intensity kabaddi action.
