IPKL 2019 | Haryana Heroes face Pune Pride to kickoff inaugural campaign

The very first match of the Indo International Premier Kabaddi League would see Haryana Heroes taking on Pune Pride on Monday, May 13. As per the official release by the league, the winner of the side would win a massive Rs 1.25 crores as the runners up would get Rs. 75 lakhs.

The league will have a similar Caravan type tournament with the Pune leg scheduled to be held at the Balewadi Stadium with a star-studded opening ceremony. The city would be hosting 20 matches before the league moves on to Mysore and then Bengaluru for the final leg, which will have 44 matches.

It has eight franchises for a total prize purse of Rs 4 crores and it would be lasting 23 days. While the Pune leg would last till May 21, the Mysore leg will be played from May 24-29, and the final one in Bengaluru from June 1-4.

The opening contest would be featuring big names like Jitendra Yadav, who has been a part of the national kabaddi team and was also selected for the World Cup, V Vimal Raj, Dalbir Malik, Amit and others.

"I cannot wait for the tournament to start onwards. I am looking forward to our first game tomorrow and we are sure about not leaving any stones unturned to ensure victory for us," said Pune skipper Malik, reported PTI.

Haryana skipper Amit said, "A second league for kabaddi is a good thing to happen. We have so many talented players in India and a league like this will only allow all the players to find newer platforms to showcase their talent and also attain valuable match time."
