Barcelona have reached a €3.5 million agreement with Mallorca for 19-year-old winger Jan Virgili. The Catalan club will retain 50% of its rights. Virgili, who helped Barça Juvenil A win the treble last season, signs a five-year deal and joins Pablo Torre as another summer addition for Jagoba Arrasate’s side.

When the talks between Barcelona and RCD Mallorca began earlier this summer, Jan Virgili’s future became one of the most followed stories around La Masia. The 19-year-old winger, who played a vital role in Barcelona Juvenil A’s treble-winning campaign last season, is now set to continue his development in Mallorca after both clubs reached a final agreement.

According to reports, the deal has been sealed for €3.5 million, with Barcelona retaining 50 percent of his rights, ensuring they remain linked to his long-term career. Mallorca, under coach Jagoba Arrasate, had been targeting reinforcements for the wide areas, and Virgili emerged as a prime candidate. Arrasate’s personal interest played a big part in pushing the transfer across the line, just as it had in the earlier signing of Pablo Torre. Virgili will sign a five-year contract and travel immediately to Palma, where Mallorca prepare to face Real Madrid in La Liga this weekend.

Although he recently impressed in the U20 Intercontinental Cup against Flamengo, Virgili was frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities in Barcelona due to heavy competition in his position. His move mirrors a growing trend of La Masia graduates seeking opportunities elsewhere for faster progression.
