Neymar is set for a potential Brazil return, with L’Équipe reporting he is pre-selected by Carlo Ancelotti for September’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile (5th) and Bolivia (10th). Absent since his ACL injury versus Uruguay in October 2023, Neymar has now completed seven full matches since July 17, boosting hopes of a Seleção comeback.

When the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume in September, Neymar could finally make his long-awaited return to the Brazilian national team. According to French daily L’Équipe, the forward is among the players pre-selected by coach Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil’s upcoming matches against Chile on September 5 and Bolivia on September 10. Neymar has not worn the Seleção jersey since October 18, 2023, when he suffered a devastating anterior cruciate ligament rupture during a 2-0 loss to Uruguay, an injury that sidelined him for several months.

Since recovering, the 33-year-old has shown signs of consistency, completing seven full matches since July 17, signalling his improved fitness. Ancelotti, who took charge of Brazil in June, has made it clear that Neymar remains central to his plans, calling him “a very important player for us for the World Cup.”

Neymar himself has also voiced his readiness, stating he feels good and is available for selection, though the final decision rests with the coaching staff. The official squad announcement is expected on August 25, which will confirm whether Neymar makes the cut. His potential comeback would be a significant boost for Brazil as they look ahead to securing qualification and preparing for the 2026 World Cup.
