Everton have agreed a season-long loan for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, with a £50m option to buy. The 29-year-old, admired by David Moyes, seeks regular football ahead of the World Cup. Grealish made just one league start last season and could debut against Leeds on August 18 after completing his medical.
After the summer transfer speculation, Everton have secured a season-long loan deal for Jack Grealish from Manchester City, with an option to buy for £50 million. The 29-year-old, who turns 30 next month, underwent a medical on Monday and is eager to work under Everton manager David Moyes, a long-time admirer. Grealish, City’s £100 million record signing, has fallen out of favour with Pep Guardiola, making only one Premier League start last season and missing the FA Cup final.
His move comes as he seeks regular football to boost his chances of making England’s squad for next summer’s World Cup, with upcoming qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in sight. Napoli had shown interest earlier, but Everton moved quickly, especially after frustrations in pursuing Aston Villa’s John McGinn and Southampton teenager Tyler Dibling.
Grealish, part of City’s 2023 Treble-winning side, has been working with a personal trainer to regain peak fitness. City left him out of their Club World Cup squad to help facilitate the right move. If the deal is finalised promptly, Grealish could debut in Everton’s Premier League opener against Leeds on August 18 in Monday Night Football, live on Sky Sports.
