As the summer transfer window progresses quietly for Coventry City, a potential departure is now on the cards. Striker Norman Bassette, who managed just 904 minutes across 25 Championship appearances in the 2024-25 season, is reportedly attracting serious interest from Dutch club FC Utrecht. Talks are underway over a possible loan-to-buy deal for the 20-year-old Belgian, while Standard Liege also remains in contention for his signature.
Bassette struggled to find consistent form under manager Frank Lampard, scoring only two goals during the campaign. Despite stepping up at times when first-choice striker Haji Wright was sidelined by injuries, Bassette never firmly cemented his place in the starting XI. His limited impact raises questions about his long-term future at a club eyeing promotion to the Premier League.
Still, the Belgian forward has shown belief in the coaching staff. Earlier this year, Bassette expressed confidence in Lampard, praising the new setup and highlighting his own commitment. His national team debut last November against Israel was a career highlight, though he has not featured for Belgium since. With Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Carl Rushworth already joining the squad, Bassette’s potential exit could mark another notable piece in Coventry’s reshaping under Lampard.
