Nigerian footballer Bartholomew Ogbeche has been named as the captain of Kerala Blasters FC for the 2019-20 Indian Super League. The striker was top form last season having steered Northeast United FC to its maiden play-off qualification before joining the fellow ISL club earlier this year.

Bartholomew Ogbeche was one of the best players in the Indian Super League last season and also the second-highest goalscorer with 12 strikes, second only to FC Goa’s Ferran Corominhas. The former Paris Saint Germain player was roped in by Kerala Blasters FC in the summer transfer window with a handsome fee. As per recent reports, he has been appointed as the captain for the ISL outfits.

Dutch coach Eelco Schattorie was also credited for the dream run of Northeast United last season. Incidentally, he has also been hired by the Yellow Army in their attempt for a maiden ISL title. It was under Eelco’s reign that Bartholomew flourished in the Indian football circuit and hopefully for Kerala Blasters FC, the duo is going to work together again once again.

Kerala Blasters FC finished at a low lying 9th position in the 2018-19 ISL with just a couple of wins. But the fans are expecting a batter 2019-20 season with a revamped squad including the likes of Bartholomew Ogbeche, Mario Arques, Sergio Cidoncha and Gianni Zuiverloon.
