Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the triumph beyond the cricket field, stating:
“This victory is for our brave armed forces. We also stand with the victims of Pahalgam.”
The controversy began even before the match — Indian players refused to shake hands after the toss, and repeated the gesture after the final whistle.
Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson voiced his frustration:
“We were ready to shake hands, but felt let down when the opposition didn’t respond. On top of that, our performance itself was disappointing.”
Following the incident, Pakistan lodged an official protest with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
At the post-match press conference, Yadav underlined the symbolic meaning of the game:

Meanwhile, ex-Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar cautioned against politicization:
“It’s just a cricket match. Don’t make it political.”
