Both batters scored the runs with a steady approach during this partnership, with rotation and hitting crucial boundaries simultaneously. Kranti Goud broke this partnership, dismissing Litchfield at the individual score of 32 runs off 47 balls, with four fours. Following her opening partner’s dismissal, Healy added another 29 runs with Ellyse Perry for the second wicket. Healy’s 41-run knock came to an end in the 19th over when she was caught by wicketkeeper Pratika Rawal off Arundhati Reddy’s delivery. After the departure of both the openers, Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney took charge of the Aussie batting and counterattacked the Indian bowling attack with an amazing partnership of 110 runs for the third wicket. Perry went on to play a brilliant knock of 78 runs off 88 balls, with seven fours and a six, followed by Mooney’s 64 (72), with six fours. On the back of this partnership, alongside Annabel Sutherland's (19) and Ashleigh Gardner’s (12) small contributions, the Aussie women scored 269/7 in the allotted 50 overs.
India Women had a good opening start of 42 runs in 8.3 overs by the opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. This partnership was mainly dominated by Mandhana, who had amazing stroke-making ability, alongside support from Rawal on the other end. India faced the first blow when Rawal fell prey to Megan Schutt on the third ball of the ninth over. She scored 21 runs off 30 balls, with three fours. Following a decent opening stand, Mandhana added another much-needed partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Furthermore, Kaur scored 38 runs off 45 balls, with three fours and a six. But after Kaur’s dismissal, the Indian middle order and lower order failed to survive against the Aussie bowling attack. Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma were the only batters to score individual scores of 27 and 26 runs, respectively. Eventually, the India Women were restricted to a score of 242/9 in the entire 50 overs. Ashleigh Gardner and Megan Schutt scalped two wickets each for Australia Women to play a crucial role in restricting India Women before the target.
