LSG vs RCB | Twitter in splits as Digvesh Rathi gets taste of his own medicine with no ball and savage reply from Jitesh

Signature celebrations are common on the cricket field, and Digvesh Rathi is the latest to join the trend. However, his most recent attempt didn’t go as planned against RCB when he pulled out his trademark celebration after dismissing Jitesh Sharma, only for the delivery to be called a no-ball.

‌It was the Rishabh Pant show at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, where the visiting skipper lit up the evening with a blistering 118 off just 61 balls, powering LSG to a daunting 227/3. In response, Royal Challengers Bengaluru got off to a flying start, racing to 61/0 in the first five overs. However, momentum shifted when Phil Salt was dismissed by Akash Singh in the sixth over, bringing Rajat Patidar to the crease. Things quickly unraveled for RCB as skipper Faf du Plessis and Liam Livingstone fell cheaply. Even Virat Kohli’s spectacular 54 off 30 was cut short, leaving the chase wobbling. Amidst the tense moments, a hilarious incident involving Digvesh Rathi added comic relief.

On the first ball of the 17th over, Rathi came around the wicket and bowled a googly on middle and leg. The RCB batter, Jitesh Sharma, switched his stance and attempted a reverse sweep, looking to clear the infield. However, he mistimed the shot, slicing it high toward backward point. Ayush Badoni charged in and pulled off a fine low catch.

Celebrating the breakthrough, Rathi broke into his signature celebration on the pitch, but the drama wasn’t over yet. The umpires referred the catch upstairs to check its validity, but as the third umpire reviewed the footage, a twist emerged. Rathi's back foot had landed outside the return crease—declared a back-foot no-ball. The wicket was overturned, handing Jitesh a lifeline. And he made the most of it. On the very next delivery, Jitesh cleared his front leg and slogged Rathi for a massive 89-meter six over midwicket. Social media erupted in laughter, with fans taking to Twitter to mock Rathi’s premature celebration that ultimately backfired.
