‌GT vs MI | Twitter reacts to Sudharsan and Indian pacers douse MI as Titans bounce back at home

Gujarat Titans bounce back from their defeat with a win against Mumbai Indians in their second home game. B Sai Sudharsan’s 61 was backed up by Mohammed Siraj’s new-ball spell and Prasidh Krishna’s old ball brilliance on a tacky surface to earn a 36-run victory and open their winning account.

Winning the toss and electing to field first on a wicket that looked like a two-paced surface, Mumbai Indians were derailed off any wickets inside the powerplay. B Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill caressed an array of orthodox strokes to help the Titans fetch 66 runs inside the powerplay with each batter getting to 18-ball 32*. Mitchell Santner and Hardik Pandya conceded just 26 runs in the next four overs before accelerating and fetching 48 in the next five. Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford’s cameos under the grafting knock of Sudharsan steered the Titans to 170/3 in 17 overs. Boult and Chahar extracted three vital wickets in the next couple of overs. Despite the flurry of wickets at the fag end of the innings, few lusty blows from the tail helped GT to 196/8 in 20 overs.

In reply, the Mumbai Indians got off to a shaky start with openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton falling prey to Mohammed Siraj’s vicious new ball bowling in a 48-run powerplay. Subsequently, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav struggled to accelerate on a two-paced surface but managed to fetch 62 runs together before Prasidh Krishna got the better of the southpaw. Impact substitute Robin Minz failed to make an impact with the bat, and the pressure epitomised for the MI with 108/4 in 13 overs. The visitors added only twelve runs in the next three overs, leading to Surya’s downfall for 47. Hardik’s struggling eleven off 17 balls concluded in the next over, curtailing the equation to 63 required off the last couple of overs. Mitchell Santner and Naman Dhir’s cameos at the last moment weren’t enough for the uphill task as MI fell short by 36 runs.

That is sport!

What a poor shot!

What?

Somedays are hard!

That's what expected!

Yeah!

Wholesome moment!

Ups and downs!
