DC vs LSG | Twitter laughs as lethal Starc yorker humiliates Bishnoi to leave stumps in sixes and sevens

While it may not make for the pettiest sighting, there are few more entertaining sights in cricket than watching a tailender try and contend with express pace. Ravi Bishnoi found himself in a similar soup on Monday after being paired up against Mitchell Starc and the encounter ended as expected.

/Lucknow Super Giants rode on the back of blistering 70s from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran to post a target of  for the Delhi Capitals in the two teams' season opener, in Vishakhaptnam on Monday. When the latter was eventually dismissed after his 30-ball knock in the 15th over, the visitors found themsleves exceptionaat lyl well placed at 169/4 with the death overs yet to come and a 220+ total looked likely. However, the middle-order failed to deliver as expected and a quick implosion saw them be restricted 10 runs short of the original expectations, courtesy Mitchell Starc's two scalps in the penultimate over. While the former was a routine bouncer to Shahbaz Ahmed that culminated in a catch at square leg, it was the dismissal of Ravi Bishnoi two balls later that made the headlines.

Starc fired in a lethal bouncer to the tailender first up and the youngster had no option but to desperately duck out of the way while the Kookaburra whistled past him. The effort was enough for Bishnoi to realize that he had little chance of navigating Starc's speeds of 140+ with orthodoxy and thus chose to go the uncoventional route on the final ball of the over. As Starc steamed in from aiund the wicket, Bishnoi charged forward while backing away from the stumps, leaving a gaping hole outside of his hitting arc given the angle from which the left-armer was bowling wide of the crease. Unsusurprisngly, the Australian fired in a rapid yorker, one Bishnoi got nowhere near before the white rock struck the base of the stumps and left just one standing, leaving the crease looking like a murder scene.

Twitterati, as always, was thoroughly amused.

Bowled him!

Catches win matches might just be the oldest adage in cricket that still remains as relevant as it was in the game's yesteryears. Bad news for Delhi then, given how Sameer Rizvi dropped a sitter of Nicholas Pooran in Vizag on Monday, and then made things worse by nearly injuring Mitchell Marsh.
