There is nothing more awkward in the game of cricket than getting hit on the box, and England skipper Ben Stokes was all over the place during the fourth Test against India in Manchester. Stokes went to ground immediately after getting hit by an inswinging delivery from Mohammed Siraj.

Starting day three of the fourth Test against India at 225/2, Joe Root and Ollie Pope continued their overnight partnership to take England closer to India’s total. The home side scored 107 runs in 28 overs in the first session without losing a wicket, going into lunch with only 26 runs in arrears to India’s first innings total.

But India got something to cheer about in the second session, with Washington Sundar picking up two quick wickets, sending back Ollie Pope (71) and Harry Brook. But skipper Ben Stokes joined his former captain to overtake India and extend their advantage.

With the pair looking assured against spin, India took the new ball after two deliveries from Mohammed Siraj in the 91st over. Off the very first ball, Siraj swung one into Stokes from short of a length, pitching on middle and leg stump. The ball came into Stokes, hitting him awkwardly on the box.

The England skipper went to ground immediately with the impact from the hit as Siraj ran in towards him to turn the heat on. He knelt for a brief while before getting up with the support of his bat amid loud cheers from the fans. Twitter was on the edge, but Stokes recovered in time to continue his innings.

Ouch!

LOL!

Not funny!

Hahaha!

He is yet to bat there!

Yeah!

Should look into it!

Ha?
