ZIM vs NZ | Twitteratti in despair as Zimbabwe finish the Tri-series without a win

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first. Though they lost Tim Robinson early in the third over, Tim Seifert and Rachin Ravindra got the Kiwis back in the game towards the end of the powerplay. The Blackcaps scored 57 runs in the first six overs for the loss of just one wicket. The duo continued to score runs, putting the Kiwis in a dominant position after 10 overs, with the score at 92/1. There was a stage where the Chevrons had a chance to come back in the game when Titotenda Maposa got the big wickets of Ravindra, who was dismissed for 63, and Mark Chapman for a duck in the next two deliveries. However, Seifert kept the runs flowing with the Blackcaps in a great position on 141/6 at the end of the 16th over. There was some respite for Zimbabwe with Richard Ngarava getting three crucial wickets, including Seifert, who top-scored for the Black Caps with 75, to complete his four-wicket haul. However, his efforts went in vain as all it took was a cameo by Michael Bracewell (26* off 16) to get the team to a commendable total of 190/6 at the end of the 20 overs.

Despite starting off their innings with a 14-run over of Matt Henry, the Zimbabwe innings never got going as they were reduced to 38/4 to record one of the worst possible powerplays. Kiwi leg spinner Ish Sodhi created havoc, taking the big wickets of Brian Bennet, Clive Madande and Dion Myers in his first couple of overs. The hosts continued to lose wickets as only Tony Munyonga held fort at one end with 40 runs in the game. In the end, Zimbabwe were bundled out for just 130 runs as the Kiwis remained unbeaten ahead of the finals of the tri-series. Sodhi was the best bowler for New Zealand, finishing with figures of 4/12 in four overs.
