South Africa have announced their squads for three ODIs and T20Is in Australia, starting August 10. Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram ares set to return as captains following a hiatus as the two sides gear up to compete in white-ball cricket for the first time since the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-final.

South Africa's upcoming tour against Australia, slated to feature three T20Is and three ODIs, is set to see the return of full-time skippers Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram as the nation announced 15 and 16-man squads respectively on Thursday. The two players last represented the Rainbow Nation in the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord's where markram's man of the match performance had led the country to its first ICC title since 1998.

Markram was subsequently afforded a break for the T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe as Rassie van der Dussen took the reins. Bavuma, meanwhile, sustained an injury during the summit clash and was ruled out of the two-Test series against the Chevrons with Keshav Maharaj leading the side to a clean sweep. While talking about the upcoming series, Proteas head Shukri Conrad expressed joy at seeing the seniors back in the fold.

“It's great to have our senior players back in the mix after their rest following the WTC Final. Their experience and quality add real value to the group as we continue to build a strong core in both formats. Every series from here on plays a part in shaping our squads for next year's T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup at home in 2027. Touring Australia is never easy. We know their conditions and intensity will test us in every department, and that's exactly the kind of challenge we're after,” Conrad stated.

Apart from Markram and Bavuma, the squad will also feature left-arm spinner Prenelan Subrayen, who was last seen in the second Test against Zimbabwe and might make his debut in the white-ball format for South Africa.

South Africa T20I squad: Aiden Markram (captain), Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Nandre Burger, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, Senuran Muthusamy, Lungi Ngidi, Nqaba Peter, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, Prenelan Subrayen, Rassie van der Dussen.

South Africa ODI squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), Corbin Bosch, Matthew Breetzke, Dewald Brevis, Nandre Burger, Tony de Zorzi, Aiden Markram, Senuran Muthusamy, Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, Prenelan Subrayen.
