The struggling West Indies Champions will face the England Champions in a must-win game for them to stay alive in the ongoing World Championship of Legends 2025. England will also look forward to moving up a spot or two in the tournament’s points table with their first win in the tournament.

After their last game against Australia Champions ended without any result, the England Champions will face the West Indies Champions in the fifth game of the tournament’s current edition. The game will be played at Northampton’s County Ground on July 22 and both teams will be eyeing registering their first win in the tournament.

England Champions are placed at the third spot in the table, with a defeat and a no-result game in their two games so far. A win in this game will help them move to the top of the table, getting two points added to make a total of three points. On the other hand, the West Indies are at the fifth and last spot, and they are in search of their first success in the tournament.

Form Guide

ENG-C: L NR

England Champions lost their first game against Pakistan Champions by 5 runs before their second game against Australia ended without any result. They are looking ahead to register their first win in the tournament.

WI-C:  L

West Indies Champions’ campaign in WCL 2025 started with a bowl-out defeat against South Africa in their first game. They will also aim to get off the mark in the tournament with a win against England Champions.

ENG-C vs WI-C Head-to-Head in T20S

England Champions and West Indies Champions have faced each other only on one occasion and that was a league match of the WCL 2024 last year. The West Indies Champions defeated the England Champs by 5 wickets in that game to take a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head clashes in T20S.

Pitch and Weather

Northampton’s County Ground has a batting-friendly surface, especially in the first innings of the game. The team batting first has won 80 per cent of the last few games played. Average score at this wicket has been 208, which proves it a paradise for the batters. So, batting first after winning the toss will be a wise move at this pitch.

The weather at the start of the game will be quite cloudy with some sunlight. The minimum temperature will be 14 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. The overcast conditions expected in the second half might favour the bowlers (especially pacers).

Team News

England Champions are likely to go ahead with the same playing XI they fielded in the last game against Australia Champions, which eventually ended without any result.

West Indies Champions might also show their trust in the same lineup they played with in the last game against the South Africa Champions. So, there might not be any change in the playing XI of WI Champs too.

ENG-C Probable XI: Phil Mustard (WK), Alastair Cook, James Vince, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan (C), Ravi Bopara, Samit Patel, Chris Tremlett, Liam Plunkett, Ajmal Shahzad, and Stuart Meaker.

WI-C Probable XI: Chris Gayle (C), Dwayne Smith, Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard, Chadwick Walton (WK), Dwayne Bravo, Ashley Nurse, William Perkins, Sheldon Cottrell, Fidel Edwards, and Sulieman Benn.

Broadcasting Platforms

WCL 2025’s fifth game between England Champions and West Indies Champions will be streamed live on FanCode app and website digitally. For Television, it will be live on Star Sports Network.
