ENG vs IND | Twitter in splits as Rishabh Pant’s sharp riposte catches Ben Duckett off-guard

Rishabh Pant has been notoriously famous for his witty stump mic conversations, and Ben Duckett felt the heat this time. With India proceeding slowly on day three of the Lord’s Test, the England opener queried whether the visitors were playing for a draw when Pant’s response caught him off guard.

‌After starting day three of the Lord’s Test against England with two boundaries off Jofra Archer, Rishabh Pant and partner KL Rahul adopted a cautious approach. The pair slowed things down as India managed just five runs from the next six overs, with the score reading 159/3 after the 50th over.

Just as India started picking up on the scoring front with two boundaries in the next two overs, Ben Duckett tried to sledge Pant and disrupt his focus. The southpaw, who started Woakes’ next over with a boundary, was happy to bide his time as he patiently blocked down the pacer’s deliveries.

Just then, the England opener walked across after looking at the visitors’ laid-back approach to query whether India were playing for the draw. The Indian vice-captain, who has always grabbed eyeballs for his witty conversations, was at it again as he nodded before replying, “Yeah, just like you”.

The wicketkeeper-batter reminded Duckett of his struggles, along with Zak Crawley on day one, when the pair could put on only 39 runs in the first 13 overs in a stark contrast to their Bazball approach.

Twitter was rolling over the floor laughing as Pant’s jibe took Duckett off guard, with the Englishman silently moving back to his fielding position.
