ENG vs IND | Twitter in awe as Bumrah’s peach ends Stokes’ stubborn stay at crease

Fast bowlers knocking over batters is a sight to behold in cricket, and who better than Jasprit Bumrah to execute that. The Indian pacer came up with a beautiful inswinger during the second day of the Lord’s Test against England to go through skipper Ben Stokes’ defence, ending his gritty knock.

‌After forcing England to abort their Bazball approach on the first day of the Lord’s Test, India was looking to mount pressure on the home side with early wickets. Starting the day at 251/4, former England skipper Joe Root completed his 37th Test century with the first ball of the day.

But Jasprit Bumrah answered Team India’s call as he struck in the third over of the day. Coming in place of Prasidh Krishna, he had accounted for England's white-ball captain Harry Brook in the last session of the previous day.

With Ben Stokes staying in the middle with a stubborn knock of 44 off 109 balls, it required something special to end his innings. Bumrah, coming from around the wicket, bowled a length delivery off the second ball of his second over. But the new cherry swung in wildly, going through Stokes, who tried in vain to block it with his bat.

The England skipper, as he always does, gave a shocking reaction as the ball went on to hit the top of the off-stump before uprooting it. The skipper was outdone by a beauty from the Indian pacer and had to start his walk back to the pavilion after trying hard to stay afloat.

Bumrah celebrated with open arms, staring at the batter as Stokes’ wicket triggered a mini-collapse. The number one bowler in Tests, then accounted for the other set batter Joe Root with the first ball of his next over before dismissing Chris Woakes for a first-ball duck to make it 271/7.

Twitter was in awe of Bumrah’s show with the second new ball as the pacer put India in the driver’s seat on the second morning.
