New Delhi Tigers defeated the Outer Delhi Warriors by a big margin of seven wickets in the 30th fixture of the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2025. Himmat Singh (58) and Shivam Gupta (59) brilliantly led the successful run chase for their side to keep the playoff hopes alive in the second edition.

New Delhi Tigers won the toss and asked the Outer Delhi Warriors to bat first. The Warriors lost Rishabh Drall (2) cheaply at the team score of just 21 runs in 2.4 overs off Pankaj Jaswal’s bowling. After an addition of three runs, the Warriors lost Jitesh Singh (2) in the next over bowled by Pradyuman Sanan. However, Priyansh Arya displayed a bit of resilience with some crucial boundaries around the end of powerplay phase. He scored 36 runs off 26 balls, with four fours and a six before getting caught by Prince Yadav off Aatrey Tripathi in the ninth over. Following Arya’s dismissal, the Warriors started losing wickets at regular intervals. There late efforts of Mohit Panwar (20), Harsh Tyagi (28) and Shivam Sharma’s late burst of 28 runs off just 14 balls helped the Warriors post 142/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Aatrey Tripathi scalped two wickets for the Tigers, alongside a wicket each picked by Pradyuman, Jaswal and Prince.

While chasing the target, NDT’s opening pair of Shivam Gupta and skipper Himmat stitched an outstanding and match-winning partnership of 113 runs in just 12.2 overs. They punished the Warriors' bowling attack brutally, hitting 51 runs in the powerplay. After the end of powerplay, the Shivam-Himmat sup accelerated the scoring rate in the next couple of overs. Himmat Singh scored 58 runs off 38 balls, with six fours and two sixes before falling prey to Shaurya Malik in the 13th over. After an addition of just nine runs, The Tigers lost Deepak Punia at the team score of 122 runs in the next over of Himmat’s dismissal. Shivam Gupta’s brilliant 59-run knock also came to an end in the 15th over, when Shaurya Malik trapped him in a ‘bowled’ dismissal. However, these dismissals didn’t damage the Tigers’ run chase as they successfully crossed the line, scoring 144/3 in just 15.2 overs. With this win, New Delhi Tigers have kept their hopes alive for qualification for the tournament’s playoff stage.

Himmat Singh won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his brilliant 58-run knock and match-winning opening partnership with Shivam Gupta (59).
