In a 16-over game due to rain, the South Delhi Superstarz defeated the Outer Delhi Warriors by a narrow margin of three wickets to move up to the fifth spot in the tournament’s points table. Young wicketkeeper-batter Tejasvi Dahiya’s unbeaten and blistering knock (70) helped his side win this game.

South Delhi Superstarz won the toss and asked the Outer Delhi Warriors to bat first. The Warriors faced an early blow when Aman Bharti dismissed Priyansh Arya, getting him caught by Tejasvi Dahiya in the second over. Arya could score only nine runs in eight balls, with a six. The Warriors were about to get out of this loss, but Karan Garg’s dismissal on a golden duck off Sumit Kumar Beniwal gave them another blow at the team score of 18 runs in three overs. Sangwan tried to compensate for the early losses with some fiery sixes, but his quick fire came to an end at the individual score of 26 runs off 14 balls, with one four and three sixes. He was dismissed by Beniwal in the fifth over, when the Warriors had scored 38 runs in 4.3 overs. In quick succession, just after an addition of 19 runs, ODW lost two more wickets as Keshav Dabas (9) and skipper Harsh Tyagi (3) fell cheaply off Digvesh Rathi in the same over. After losing half of their team and a lot of hopes at the score of 57 runs in eight overs, the crucial 39-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Dhruv Singh and Shivam Sharma stabilized their side’s crumbling innings. Divansh Rawat broke this partnership by dismissing Sharma in a caught-and-bowled dismissal, at the individual score of 21 (14), hitting one four and two sixes. Dhruv continued taking the innings forward and added another 30-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Siddhant Sharma (13). Dhruv’s valiant effort came to an end when he was caught by Rathi off Beniwal, at the individual score of 42 runs off 31 balls, with four fours and two sixes. These efforts helped the Warriors post 139/8 in the allotted 16 overs. Beniwal bowled a brilliant spell for his side, picking three wickets for 28 runs in his three overs, alongside two wickets each picked by Divansh Rawat and Digvesh Rathi. Aman Bharti also claimed a wicket for 16 runs in his three overs.

Superstarz’s run chase fell in jeopardy when they lost three wickets cheaply at the score of just 23 runs in 4.1 overs. Kunwar Bidhuri (6), Rohan Rana (4), and Ayush Badoni (2) couldn’t contribute much in the top order as they fell prey to the trio of Siddhant Sharma, Harsh Tyagi, and Shaurya Malik. Opener Anmol Sharma and wicketkeeper-batter Tejasvi Dahiya took the innings forward, with an impactful 38-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Harsh Tyagi ended this partnership, dismissing Anmol (23) in the 10th over, followed by Sehrawat (8) falling prey to Suyash Sharma. Beniwal’s late burst of 19 runs off seven balls, with one four and two sixes, was stopped by Anshuman Hooda in the 13th over. Meanwhile, it was Dahiya who kept the scoring acceleration going and fastened his knock with a swashbuckling approach. He smashed 51 runs in the last three overs from the 13th to 16th over, hitting one four and five sixes. With a contribution of only one run from Abhishek Khandelwal, Dahiya stitched an unbeaten and game-changing 52-run partnership for the eighth wicket, including his match-winning on the last ball of the 16th over. This partnership helped the Superstarz chase the target, scoring 145/7 in 16 overs. Dahiya ended up with the unbeaten and swashbuckling knock of 70 runs off just 33 balls, with four fours and six sixes, winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award to take his side home.
