CSK vs MI | Twitter in splits as Rohit channels the 'force' to keep Santner from spilling catch

Players that have aura don't need to do much to make others aware of it -- and Rohit Sharma simply reeks of aura. The former Mumbai Indians skipper conjured some magic from the dugout on Sunday to ensure Mitchell Santner holds onto a tricky catch to dispatch Chennai Super Kings' Ayush Mhatre.

Chennai Super Kings rode on the back of Shivam Dube's half-century to post XXX on the board against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede, their highest first innings total of the season. The foundation was set early on by 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre's blistering 32 on debut off just 14 deliveries, and the youngster looked slated to complete a remarkable half-century until Deepak Chahar tricked him with a slower one while Mitchell Santner grabbed onto the catch at long-on. However, unbeknownst to the duo, Rohit Sharma had a role to play in the dismissal as well, despite not even being present on the field.

The veteran was seated in the dugout, ready to be brought on in the second innings as an Impact Player, when he saw the ball soaring towards him and Santner scrambling to judge the trajectory of the Kookaburra. The Kiwi did well eventually but just as he held on, a stumble put him at risk of crossing the ropes and costing his team the wicket. Thus arrive Rohit, with two outstretched open palms, to channel some intangible energy and bring balance to his teammate, thereby ensuring a clean catch.

Twitterati could not stop laughing.
