CSK vs PBKS | Twitter in disbelief as Priyansh brings up 39-ball ton with three sixes off Pathirana

From Ishan Kishan to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma, the Indian Premier League has always delivered when it comes to catapulting domestic stars into household names. Tuesday added another chapter to their legacy as Priyansh Arya announced his arrival on the big stage in incredulous fashion.

Punjab Kings did not shy from their gung-ho approach that has brought them tremedous success so far in this Indian Premier League season as the team kept going gangbusters on a slightly tricky Chepauk pitch against Chennai Super Kings. However, the result was a top and middle-order collapse as only Priyansh Arya managed to record a double digit score amongst the top six, but the solo effort was enough to keep Punjab in contention single-handedly.

The 24-year-old started in fifth gear as he began the innings with a commanding six off Khaleel Ahmed, and then added another four balls later to cement his authority. By the time the 13th over rolled around, the boundary count had increaed to six ours and as many maximums, with Arya's contribution a stunning 80 in the team's score of 128/5. However, little could one have imagined that the best is yet to come from the Delhite.

With Matheesha Pathirana in his sights, Priyansh greeted the quick into the attack by depositing his low full-toss over the deep point boundary. The Sri Lankan quick responded with a length delivery but it made little difference to the result, and a third consecutive six -- this one over deep square leg -- brought Priyansh to within two runs of a maiden IPL ton. He did not have to teeter much as a thick outside edge managed to pierce the gap between fine leg and point and tallied Priyansh four runs, making his 39-ball ton the joint fourth-fastest in the tournament's history and the second fastest by an Indian behind Yusuf Pathan's 37-ball blitzkrieg in 2010.

Twitterati could not have been more scintillated by the breathtaking performance.

Boy got soup!

Take a bow!

He is such a talent!

Batted really well!

Sheer carnage!

Yupe!

This is different!

What a moment!

He is so good at it!

Brilliant knock!
