‌RCB vs GT | Twitter reacts to ruthless Siraj and Buttler’s flamboyance hand RCB season’s first loss

The Gujarat Titans defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru by eight wickets and earned their second victory of the tournament. Mohammed Siraj’s vicious three-fer was backed by Jos Buttler’s 39-ball 73* and B Sai Sudharsan’s 49, eclipsing Liam Livingstone’s 54 to beat RCB at their den.

Eyeing to make it a back-to-back win after a convincing triumph over the Mumbai Indians, the toss belonged to Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill. New ball pacers Arshad Khan and Mohammed Siraj spit venom at the start, removing Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, respectively. Soon after, Siraj went on to shatter the stumps of Phil Salt inside 38 runs powerplay before Ishant Sharma outsmarted captain Rajat Patidar to reduce them to 48/4 in seven overs. As the pacers continued, Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone steered them to 73 runs halfway through the innings before Rashid Khan spilled runs despite R Sai Kishore keeping it tight from one end. The 52-run was broken in the 13th over, making way for Krunal Pandya’s wicket. But Livingstone switched gears against Rashid, belting three sixes in the 18th over as his 54, coupled with Tim David’s cameo, steering RCB to 169/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, the Titans got off to a steady start, albeit for the cost of skipper’s wicket in the fifth over. B Sai Sudharsan’s calculative knock helped them fetch 42 inside the powerplay before impact sub Rasikh Dar and Yash Dayal leaked runs from either end to set up 75/1 in nine overs. Despite the introduction of spin, Sudharsan played second fiddle to Buttler, who was attacking the bowlers on numerous occasions. However, the left-hander, in an attempt to replicate a successful ramp off Hazlewood at the start, ended up losing his wicket at 49 in the 13th over. GT had Nelson after the 13th over before getting 39 runs in the next four overs with Buttler at 60 off 36 balls along with Sherfane Rutherford. Three sixes in the next over eased the chase for the Titans with a thirteen balls in hand.
