Wicketkeepers carry a heavy responsibility, and go the extra mile to display their sharp instincts and secure remarkable catches. This was evident in the Test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, where Kusal Mendis demonstrated exceptional agility and secured a stunner dismissing Kane Willamson.

Sri Lanka's innings concluded at 305 runs after Ajaz Patel dismissed Prabhath Jayasuriya, and William O’Rourke claimed five wickets, including those of Ramesh Mendis and Asitha Fernando. New Zealand’s openers, Devon Conway and Tom Latham, initially faced some difficulties but gradually established a solid position, ending the day at 126/1, with Latham scoring a half-century. In the final session, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra continued New Zealand's progress, but Williamson’s promising innings was cut short by a spectacular catch from Kusal Mendis.

On the fourth ball of the 53rd over, captain Dhananjaya de Silva delivered a fuller ball on the pads. As the ball stayed low, Williamson advanced and attempted to turn it around the corner. Unfortunately, the ball took the leading edge and looped up on the offside. Kusal Mendis, alert and quick, dived forward from the silly point region to take a stunning catch. His remarkable effort to dismiss the well-set Williamson was celebrated by his teammates and also drew praise from the cricketing world on social media.
