Duleep Trophy | Twitter and Gill in splits as Musheer resorts to sweeping against Dube's medium pace

Necessity has always been the mother of innovation and cricket is no different. Musheer Khan exemplified the saying on Friday by bringing out the sweep against Shivam Dube in an impressive spell, causing captain Shubman Gill to crack up after watching his plans be foiled such emphatically.

India B continued to frustrate India A on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy as Musheer Khan and Navdeep Saini added to their overnight partnership of 108 runs. Shubman Gill even took the new ball as soon as it become available but to no effect and the scorecard had jumped from 202/7 to XXX/7 by the time the 100-over mark was reached in the innings. However, one bowler that Musheer was particularly struggling to face was Shivam Dube which provoked Gill to bring the medium pacer back into the attack, but it only prompted an ingenious reply from the young Indian batter occupying the crease.

Dube operated around the off stump for the first half of the 95th over before bouncing the ball short to force a defence from Musheer. Shubman made some changes in the field thereafter to push out the men from attacking positions into positions to save singles and keep Musheer from retaining strike in the next over, with hopes of exposing Navdeep to his pacers. However, much to his surprise, Musheer got down on his left knee as soon as he saw the ball be floated up the pitch and gracefully guided it down fine leg for an easy run.

Gill immediately broke into a sheepish smile at first before it became full blown laughter, causing much amusement on Twitterati.
