Duleep Trophy | Twitter stunned as unplayable Akash Deep jaffa dispatches Nitish Reddy for golden duck

The cliche goes scoreboards don't tell the full story, and Akash Deep proved exactly why that's the case in the Duleep Trophy opener. While on-paper it shall say Nitish Reddy only managed a golden duck, the watchers know that the batter had no chance of keeping out the peach from the India A quick.

I‌ndia B quickly crumbled after a confident 33-run opening stand on Thursday after being put in to bat first on a green deck in Bengaluru. Rishabh Pant and Musheer Khan had the responsibility to stage a recovery from 67/3 but Akash Deep took care of the former to end a 13-run partnership but it was the ball that followed that truly made everyone take notice.

Nitish Kumar Reddy walked onto the field to replace Pant in the 35th over with great expectations weighing heavy on his shoulders after catapulting to global fame on the back of an excellent IPL season. However, the Andhra batter had little opportunity to showcase his talents as Akash steamed in from over the wicket and pitched a good length delivery on middle stump. Reddy tentatively stretched his front leg forward in hopes of blocking the ball but the red cherry jagged away like a leg break to beat the outsdie edge by a fair margin and rattle into the top of off stump to turn any pacer's dream into a tangible reality for the Bengal quick. Akash Deep was simply ecstatic at the wondrous delivery as he leapt in the air in jubilation while Reddy walked off the pitch with his head bowed down, his eyes fixated on the surface as he searched for explanataions of what had just occurred.

Twitterati, meanwhile, was quick to heap praises on the Indian bowler for a ball that would play on the highlight reels for years to come.
