‌WATCH | Returning Shami impresses with four-for against Madhya Pradesh ahead of BGT

It doesn’t take time for a setback while the process of comebacks can be a long and tiring process for any athlete. Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has been off the field for almost a year until his return to Bengal in the fourth round of the Ranji Trophy, shining with a four-for on the second day.

In reply to Bengal’s 228, courtesy of a valiant Shahbaz Ahmed 92, Madhya Pradesh got off to a great start on the opening day, reaching 103/1 at Stumps. Overnight batters Subhrangshu Senapati and Rajat Patidar failed to prosper in the morning session of the second day with Bengal pacers striking early. Apart from Mohammad Kaif and Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal’s brilliant bowling, the former’s elder brother Shami was in the spotlight courtesy of a four-for on return.

With Jaiswal removing Patidar and Senapati early in his first spell, Shami assisted him with the huge wicket of opposition captain Shubham Sharma. Although Kaif and Rohit Kumar got wickets in the middle, Shami returned another spell to clear the lower order and the tail, completing a four-for to reduce the hosts to 167 by Lunch. The skillful pacer was seen hitting the right areas around the channel with a cocky wrist position and generating seam movements on either side of the batters. From the four wickets he gathered, three of them were bowled, albeit Shubham Sharma was played down in the middle overs.

Shami stars!
