IPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to Rohit and Agarkar’s addressing questions over Kohli’s strike rate

The intensity of competition in Indian cricket is such that even a stalwart’s place can be questioned. A similar thing happened with Virat Kohli as doubts were raised around his sub-par strike rate during the IPL which were duly addressed by Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar in a press conference.

Among many other questions regarding the World Cup squad of India for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies, one of the hot debates loomed around Virat Kohli’s drop in strike rate during the ongoing IPL 2024. While Rohit Sharma shrugged on hearing this particular question, Chairman of the Indian Senior Men's Selection Committee Ajit Agarkar took the initiative to answer the question.

The former Indian pacer replied by stating that it wasn’t even a topic of conversation during the selection meeting. He emphasized the experience that the 35-year-old carries in important ICC events and the role it could play on the big stage.

“I don’t think we have been discussing it. He has been in great form, no concerns at all. You are still going to a World Cup, there is still a gap there. That’s where experience does matter a lot.

Agarkar also mentioned that even if the teams score around 220 as has been the case during the ongoing IPL, the team has enough firepower to compete.

“If the tournament turns out like the IPL. If 220 plays like 220, we have the skills. At the end of the day, when you turn up for a World Cup the pressure is different.”

While the press conference talks have been circulating through social media today, here’s how the Twitterverse reacted to Agarkar and Rohit’s take on the Virat Kohli strike rate concern.
