ENG vs SA | Twitter in awe as Reeza takes flight to help pumped-up Rabada dispatch raging Salt

South Africa and spectacular catches have always been a match made in heaven but few have arrived at such a crucial stage as the one in St Lucia on Wednesday. Reeza Hendricks brilliantly leapt off the ground to send the high-flying Phil Salt packing, much to the delight of an ecstatic Kagiso Rabada.

England recovered brilliantly from Quinton de Kock's early heroics in their second Super 8 clash to restrict South Africa to a competitive 163/6 on a dry track with plenty for batsmen and bowlers alike. However, the Proteas responded in kind and had their European rivals reeling at 56/3 after nine overs with two new batters at the crease, their advantageous position set-up by one of the definite contenders for the catch of the tournament in the second over.

Coming off a match-winning 47-ball 87 against the Windies, Phil Salt looked set to carry on his excellent form as flashed at Kagiso Rabada's full and wide penultimate delivery. The Kookaburra, though aerial, seemed to be heading straight for the gap between cover and point but Hendricks had other plans. The opener sprung towards his left ina  flash with both his arms extended, hoping the ball would stick. As it turned out, he had timed the jump to perfection and the ball nestled in safely between his palms.

Salt let off a furious scream after being punished for a smoking stroke while Rabada flared his eyes wide, his scream one of ecstacy. Twitterati, meanwhile, focused all its attention on the spectacular take by Hendricks.
