The eagerly anticipated Asian derby between India and Afghanistan took centre stage at the Kensington Oval for their first Super Eight encounter of Group 1. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first, opening the innings with Virat Kohli. The duo struggled against the disciplined Afghan attack, leading to Rohit's dismissal in the third over.
On the fifth ball of the third over, Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled a cunning slower delivery with the new ball. The white rock pitched on the fuller side of the stumps. Rohit, aiming to drive it down the ground, placed his front leg firmly but mistimed the shot as the ball grazed the toe end of his bat. Meanwhile, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan moved forward from his mid-off position to take an easy catch. A dejected Rohit walked back to the pavilion after a cheap dismissal, while Farooqi celebrated with a flamboyant John Cena ‘You can’t see me’ gesture, sending the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
