‌ENG vs SL | Mark Wood ruled out of Manchester Test with injury

In a massive dent to the England camp, speedster Mark Wood has been ruled out of the remainder of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Manchester. After three days of cricket, he is unlikely to return to the field on the fourth day, leaving England devoid of a raw pace bowler in the bowling unit.

The England cricket social media handle posted about Wood’s injury before the start of play on the fourth day. Wood suffered a right thigh muscle injury while bowling on the third day of the test. Following the medical report, he is ruled out of any further participation in the day’s play, and probably in the Test.

He bowled 18.2 overs in the Test, bagging a couple of wickets, and hurried Dinesh Chandimal in the third Test, forcing the veteran to trudge off the field due to a nasty bumper.

The pacer failed to complete his bowling stride in the 56th over, as he pulled off from his run up on the third ball. Although it seemed more like a tweak then, Wood walked off the field with Root filling his void by bowling the remaining four balls in the over.

At the end of the third day, Sri Lanka’s score reads 204/6 in 60 overs with a lead of 82 runs.
