CSK vs SRH | Twitter celebrates Dhoni's mentorship to Tushar Deshpande as he rattles SRH top-order

The value of experience often gets overlooked in the cricketing realm but time and again Chennai Super Kings proved how important it can be. 42-year-old Dhoni’s wit helped Tushar Deshpande remove the dangerous top three of Sunrisers Hyderabad despite spilling a six against dangerous Travis Head.

Winning the toss, Pat Cummins, the SRH skipper opted to field first and induced an early wicket of Ajinkya Rahane. Despite the setback, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 98 along with Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dube’s fantastic knocks helped CSK post 212 runs on the board. In reply, the Yellow Army got a perfect start with the ball, courtesy of Deshpande’s excellent comeback with assistance from Dhoni.

After spilling two sixes within the first three balls of the second over against Travis Head, Dhoni was seen engaging in a discussion with the Mumbai pacer. Eventually, the burly pacer dished a full-pitched pace-off delivery outside the off stump on the fifth ball of the over, luring Head onto a powerful stroke towards the deep point region. The southpaw failed to judge the variation and holed out to Daryl Mitchell at a deep point. In the next delivery, Deshpande sent impact player Anmolpreet Singh for a golden duck after the latter got a leading edge off a straighter delivery towards extra cover.

Although Deshpande did not earn a hattrick in his next over, he ensured yet another wicket with a slower one by fishing Abhishek Sharma with a length delivery outside the off stump and keeping it pace-off. The Punjab-bred batter went for a bottom-handed slice but ended up watching the ball travel towards Daryl Mitchell at deep point for his third scalp. Seeing Deshpande turn the table single-handedly with the ball after Dhoni’s mentorship, the Twitterverse could not shy away from appreciating the CSK pair.
