IPL 2024 | Twitter frowns as Prithvi Shaw lets go sitter to keep gamechanging LSG partnership alive

The number of dropped catches in IPL 2024 have been extravagant so far and Prithvi Shaw only made matters worse on Friday by failing to grab onto a simple chance. The Delhi Capitals youngster could not pluck a high ball late into the first innings that allowed Lucknow Super Giants to keep gunning.

Lucknow Super Giants staged a memorable comeback from 94/7 to put up 167/7 on the board in the first innings courtesy of an unbeaten 73-run stand between Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan. While the former played the role of aggressor with a clinical half-century, the latter valiantly provided valuable support and ended up on 20 off 16 deliveries. However, Delhi Capitals had the opportunity to snap the stand with two overs of play to go but Prithvi Shaw's failure ensured Lucknow remained in the hunt.

Khaleel capped off his fourth over on the day with a full delivery at the stumps that Arshad attempted to heave big towards the leg side. However, he failed to time his shot properly and the Kookaburra rose high into the night sky with Prithvi Shaw hovering under it in the midwicket region. The opener had managed to place himself well but as the ball dropped, the Mumbaikar failed to react appropriately and the white rock slipped in between his hands and onto the ground. Khaleel was visibly disappointed upon being robbed of the opportunity to scalp his third wicket in the game as he made way for impact substitute Abhishek Porel.

Twitterati came down harshly on Prithvi Shaw adding another shocker to his list of blunders on the field.

The intensity of a gruelling cricket contest can often get the better of a bowler and such was the case with left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed at Ekana on Friday. The Delhi Capitals bowler seemed over-celebrating for a lbw without even bothering to look at the umpire, only to get trolled by his captain.
